Internet & related software's NETSCAPE & MOSAIC . I, Units II, IV & V – Comer Vol. The Implementation (TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 2). Computer Networking with IP, Stalling, Pearson Education. Comprehensive in scope, based on a working standard, and thoroughly illustrated. Being more network administrator rather than developer, but overall a very interesting book, especially how logical link control is implemented but the Code is hard to grok at my self taught level :-( is the implementation based in this book much different to modern day Linux systems ? I used 4.4 BSD-Lite.tar.gz source code mentioned in book: TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume2 (The Implementation) by Gary R.Wright and W.Richard Stevens. TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 2: The Implementation. Internetworking with TCP/?P, Vol. Frame Relay: operation, congestion control & frame format. W.Richard Stevens “TCP/IP illustrated” Volume 1 Pearson Education, 2003 (Unit II ) REFERENCES 1. While IP handles actual delivery of the data, TCP keeps track of the individual units of data transmission, called segments, that a message is divided into for efficient routing through the network. 1 & 2 fourth edition, Pearson Education Asia, 2003 (Unit I in Comer Vol. SONET / SDH : layers , frame & application. TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 2: The Implementation By Gary R. TCP is one of the two original components of the suite, complementing the Internet Protocol (IP), and therefore the entire suite is commonly referred to as TCP/IP. Volume 2 shows and explains in detail the code for an actual TCP/IP stack (from one of the BSDs), which may be a little more low-level than you need. Volume 2: The Implementation, contains a thorough explanation of how TCP/IP protocols are implemented. Edit: TCP/IP Illustrated series ? TCP consists of a set of rules: for the protocol, that are used with the Internet Protocol, and for the IP, to send data "in a form of message units" between computers over the Internet.
